FAQ
What kind of events does TevaLand specialize in?
TevaLand can conduct an educational program anywhere people want to learn about nature and the animal kingdom! This includes: schools, family gatherings, places of business, festivals, and parties.
Is TevaLand a petting zoo?
NO. TevaLand works with small groups (of up to 10 participants and 2 chaperones per session) to offer a hands-on educational experience as part of a personal soul mission to make a difference in the lives of rescued animals. When traveling with our beloved rescued animals for an educational program, we aim to provide a controlled environment in order to keep them safe, happy, healthy, and loved. In addition to safety, the experiential educational aspect of the program is our top priority.
How long is an educational program session?
Educational program sessions range from a minimum of 30 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours (including transition time) per 10 participant/2 chaperone group.
Why do you limit your educational programs to 10 participants and 2 chaperones per session?
In order to achieve our goal to educate and make a difference in the lives of our animals and participants, we must limit our program to no more than 10 participants and 2 chaperones per session. Otherwise, we would be compromising the quality and value of the program as well as the safety of both our animals and participants. Our goal is to go in depth and impart important knowledge. With 10 participants per session, it is possible. With a larger group, it is just not the same. We are not entertainers, we are not a show, and we are not a petting zoo. To hold our educational programs to the highest possible standard, we strictly limit all of our event sessions to 10 participants, 2 parent/teacher chaperones, and ZERO observers. Having any additional adults/children around who are not part of the 10 participant and 2 chaperone session is extremely distracting as well as uncomfortable since, clearly, all are interested in taking part in this magical experience (and it is honestly heartbreaking for TevaLand staff to be asked to 'ignore' these humans).
What is the role of a chaperone?
A chaperone is NOT a participant. Chaperones should be on hand to offer emotional and behavioral support to session participants as well as additional safety supervision. Chaperones should be familiar with session participants in order to offer insights to the educator about any challenges or special needs as they arise during the program.
What is the minimum age required for a chaperone?
16 and up.
Can we have our educational program outside?
Yes, but only if you’re able to schedule a secondary rain date at the time of booking. Also, all outdoor programs must be in a shaded and protected private area where both animals and session participants can feel safe and secure.
Can we have goats at our event?
Goats are available at an additional charge and may only participate in 1 hour outdoor programs up to a maximum of 20 miles from the farm (which is located in Hillburn, NY).
Which animals will be featured in the educational program?
Each participant will get to be a part of the rehabilitation journey of rescued animals. Participants will meet baby chicks, bunnies, long bunnies (domesticated rats), and our beloved guinea pigs. Unfortunately, TevaLand cannot guarantee any particular animal will be visible or on exhibit during the traveling program.
Will participants be permitted to hold and feed the educational program animals?
Each group will participate in hands-on farm chores and experience direct contact with live farm animals.
Will participants be permitted to milk the animals?
Unfortunately, we do not have any animals for milking.
How can event participants help?
As a nonprofit, we rely upon the community to support our mission. By booking TevaLand for your event, you are performing an act of community service! That's because all proceeds from Farm Friends Educational Programs benefit our mission to rescue and provide a loving forever home to as many abused, neglected, and abandoned animals as possible. Our many years of experience has proven that getting the participants and their families invested by taking actions which directly benefit the animals they will be interacting with only serves to compound the positive impacts of their educational experience. At the time of your booking, we will provide you with a farm wishlist. Please share this wishlist with your guests so they will have the opportunity to partner with you to support TevaLand's rescued animal family as well.
What if my event is located over 30 miles from TevaLand?
Step 1: Fill out the online registration form. Step 2: Contact alexis@TevaLand.org to inquire about possible travel exemptions (additional fees would apply).
What if my event will have more than 20 participants?
Step 1: Fill out the online registration form. Step 2: Contact alexis@TevaLand.org to inquire about the possibility of specialized sessions (additional fees would apply).
Are educational program prices negotiable?
NO. All proceeds from our programs are allocated to support our beloved family of rescued animals. Educational Programs start at the lowest possible price and incrementally increase based upon the number of participants/sessions, distance of the event location from the farm, and whether or not goats are included.
Why have the educational program prices increased over the last several years?
Due to our commitment to provide the best possible care for as many animals rescued from abuse, neglect, or abandonment as possible, our costs to operate TevaLand have skyrocketed in the last several years. The price of our educational programs are merely a reflection of these expenses.
When is my educational program payment due?
Your balance is due in full 7 days before your event date.
How do I make my educational program payment?
Option 1: Payment may be made as a one time donation via our website with a credit or debit card. Option 2: Checks may be made payable to TevaLand and mailed to 47 Brandt Road, Hillburn, NY 10931.
What if my payment is late?
If you know your payment will be late, please contact us immediately to prevent the automatic cancellation of your event. If we do not receive your payment at least 7 days before the date of your event, your program will be cancelled and you will be notified via email.
What is your cancellation policy for educational programs?
Programs cancelled after payment has been made are nonrefundable. Participants who cancel before payment has been made will not be charged.
What if my event goes overtime?
In order to accommodate the health and wellness of our beloved family of rescued animals, we will not be able to extend the time of your program on the day of the event. All requests to make changes to your event must be made no less than 1 week prior to the date of the program. In the event that a program runs overtime, it will be billed at the standard hourly rate of your customized educational program.
How do I prepare for the arrival of TevaLand’s rescued animals?
Please reserve a safe, accessible parking space in close proximity to the event staging area for loading and unloading of Farm Animal Friends at the beginning and end of the program.
Two separate spaces (areas A & B) must be prepared before the arrival of TevaLand’s rescued animals. Area A: The event staging area must be private and will be restricted to a maximum of 10 participants and 2 chaperones. If the area is located outside, it must be shaded for the health and wellness of both animals and participants. If the area is inside, please make sure it is well lighted for photography purposes. Area B: The holding area is where additional groups will be occupied with another activity during each educational program session.
What if I am not prepared for the arrival of TevaLand’s rescued animals?
The safety and security of our rescued animal family is of the utmost importance. If, upon arrival at your event location, TevaLand staff deems the space to be unprepared or unsafe, the program will be cancelled and no refund will be issued. In the event that a program runs overtime because you were unprepared, it will be billed at the standard hourly rate of your customized educational program.
May I take photos during the event?
NO. To ensure the safety of our animals and participants as well as to uphold our mission of mindfulness in education by minimizing electronic device distratictions, cameras and cell phones are strictly prohibited. TevaLand staff will be taking professional photos during the event so you can enjoy the experience in the present moment while concentrating on being fully present for your guests. At the conclusion of your event, you will receive a link to a beautiful photo album of precious moments to both treasure and share with event participants.
